When I was challenged to do a collaborative project with the Kingston students at Stanley Picker gallery by The House of Fairytales I chose to create a magical crochet tree made from over a thousand plastic bags rescued from a shoe shop in Covent Garden where the shoes arrive each in a separate plastic bag in the box. it took several weeks and several student helpers to create this tree. The audience had to come through a cupboard to envelope themselves in the magic and from the tree, costumes made from recycled materials hanged like delicious fruit.
Even though most of my art is wearable, i do love painting, drawing, sculpture and even making the odd lamp or a piece of furniture. I'm fascinated by portraiture and often my work boundaries on surreal, a sort of contemporary iconography. Scroll though the gallery to see some of my unwearable art.
